Biography

Michelle has owned and operated a rehabilitation and fitness center for 17 years and holds a 4th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. She has 20+ years experience teaching martial arts, aerobics, step aerobics, pilates, boot camp, kickboxing aerobics, spin, personal training, step-spin, and self-defense classes.

She holds a Master of Science degree in Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice and also serves as an Assistant Professor teaching in the WVU School of Nursing.

Biography

Elizabeth Halliday-Reynolds is the founder of BlissBlissBliss a full service wellness center in Morgantown, West Virginia. Building thriving communities through wellness and supporting individuals by providing access to as many healing modalities as possible in one place is what BlissBlissBliss is all about. BlissBlissBliss is a grounding space that offers many forms of bodywork including massage, aromatherapy, energy work, yoga. Workshops on crystal healing, Reiki certifications and a thriving yoga teacher training program round out the programs.

Elizabeth started her business life out with a masters degree in Library & Information Science and worked in the high tech industry for a decade. When she came up for air, she made a radical shift to become a licensed massage therapist, Aromatherapist, yoga teacher, Reiki Master and certified ayurvedic life style consultant.

Nicole Gauthier-Schatz

Biography

Nicole Gauthier-Schatz has been teaching in the Morgantown community and surrounding areas for 27 years.

Nicole holds certifications as a Stress Management Specialist, Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga Instructor, Holistic Lifestyle Teacher and Yoga Therapist. Nicole is also the co-creator of the Mindful Steps to Stress Less Program.

Nicole seeks to create a safe, non-dogmatic educational environment, where the student is immersed in the process of self-discovery and inner exploration to become a more integrated human. In a safe refuge, students can turn their inner attentiveness to feelings, sensations, and activity of the mind. Students can then experience more freedom and vitality, and connect the practice to their daily life. The practice leads to increased awareness, mental clarity, and emotional wellness, as well as generating strength and suppleness for a healthier, more vibrant and limber body.

Alexandra Amedro

Biography

Alexandra was born in Colombia, S.A. and has been teaching Zumba since March 2006.  You don’t need to know how to dance to join her classes. She creates a party-like atmosphere, which is less intimidating for participants who are inexperienced in Latin dance. Participants know that they can just go with the flow and enjoy the party.  What makes her classes unique is the high-energy dance element. A few minutes into one of her hour-long Zumba classes and one thing is clear – it is all in the hips. In one of her Zumba classes you not only learn the basic steps of Latin rhythms, but you also learn some Spanish along the way. Her Zumba classes are 100% latin, full of salsa, merengue, cumbia, samba and much more!

Jade Clark

Biography

Jade Clark is the current group exercise instructor for the WVU Medicine Wellness Boomercise class. She has been a group exercise instructor for WVU Medicine Wellness since 2007.

Jade has her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from WVU, with a minor in dance. She is currently certified as a Group Exercise Instructor by the American Council on Exercise with a specialist certification in Senior Fitness. She has previous ACE-certified personal training experience at the WVU Recreational Center and at the Wellness Center at Southwest Regional Medical Center. She also taught water aerobics and fitness yoga for WVU Lifetime Activities program, as well group exercise classes for Waynesburg University and the Wellness Center at Southwest Regional Medical Center.

Jade has been an avid exerciser since her youth with a love of weight training and instructional exercise programs. Her dedication to exercise led her to place 5th in the Novice Figure category at the 2012 NPC Elite Physique Championships in Pittsburgh, PA.

She is a wife and mother of two girls.

Brandi Mills

Biography

Brandi Mills is a local Holistic Life Coach, Fitness Nutrition Specialist, Personal Trainer, Yoga Teacher, and Mompreneur. Brandi has meshed all of her credentials together to bring a fresh new approach to balance and created The Balancebuilding Philosophy. She is on a mission to share tools to empower others to achieve their goals physically, while nurturing their mind and soul, working in, while working out. She created the Balancebuilding Philosophy after going on her own journey to finding balance, recovering from the physical and mental extremes from competitive bodybuilding, going from a bodybuilder to a balancebuilder. The Balancebuilding Philosophy helps alleviate the extreme mentality, by combining information and tools to help others achieve complete synchronicity between the mind, body and soul, for a lifetime. After finishing her Yoga Teacher Training, she has dedicated a lot of her time to help balancing fitness enthusiasts and also focusing women’s health.

Brandi has a total of 10 years working in the healthcare field at WVUM, including most of her time as an Ultrasound technician. She has dedicated the last 2 years guiding and inspiring clients to living their best, balanced life. Her open hearted, nonjudgmental approach focuses on helping individuals make their wellness plan fit their unique lifestyle. With a variety of services offered, such as custom virtual wellness plans, yoga classes, occasional programs, workshops and retreats, there are many opportunities to explore the world of Balancebuilding. One of Brandi’s favorite services she offers is yoga so she is excited to, once again, be a part of WVUM, sharing her love of yoga with others and to help them start their day with a positive mindset.

Deborah Yackel

Biography

Deborah has been a fitness professional for the last 36 years and teaching at Healthworks for more than 20 years. Her career in Pilates started in 2000 with the program of the Ron Fletcher Method. She was honored to have studied under the man who trained under Joseph Pilates himself. It was in Boulder Colorado where she learned the authentic method of technique and skill from an esteemed elder and master of Pilates. Two years later, she received a certification in mat and all equipment by Powerhouse Pilates specializing in Rehabilitative Pilates. She along with several of the physical therapists at Healthworks received this certification yet she was the one who became the coordinator of the program and performed frequent in –service seminars to the staff and our members at Healthworks. After attending several International Educational Conferences with Pilates Method Alliance, Deborah was one of the few fitness professionals selected by Polestar Pilates Education to attend an 8- day intensive training in Miami with the renowned Brent Anderson – PhD, PT, OCS and co- founder of Polestar in Sacramento California. The concept was to specialize in Pilates based rehabilitation and performance enhancement. This series provided an in-depth instruction in the Pilates principles, techniques and practice along with research in movement science, motor learning, bioenergetics, and communication science to the instructional practice.

In continuation of her Pilates instruction and practice, Deborah has completed modules with Balance Body Education in advanced exercises and programming in Mat, Reformer, Trapeze Table, Chair, Ladder Barrel, and small props including advanced and super advanced exercises to challenge clients to achieve their best. Deborah feels that her vast, well rounded education and experience will create safe successful classes for clients at any level.
