Divisions

The Cardiology Section provides evaluation, consultation, and treatment for diseases of the heart and circulatory system. Our faculty have expertise in every aspect of cardiac care, ranging from standard procedures such as, outpatient consultation, echocardiography, and angiography to advanced clinical research into heart failure, preventive cardiology, and radio-frequency ablation.

Our Division of Cardiac Critical Care is made up of intensivists with expertise in cardiac critical care. Our multidisciplinary program emphasizes managing the entire patient and team members have additional expertise in internal medicine, nephrology, neurocritical care, transplant medicine, trauma, general, and thoracic.

The Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology is committed to advancing the care of patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic procedures across West Virginia and the surrounding region. Our team provides expert anesthetic management for a wide range of cases – from minimally invasive interventions to complex heart and lung surgeries, including transplantation. We are dedicated to patient safety, comfort, and outcomes, and we lead in the use of advanced intraoperative monitoring, including transesophageal echocardiography. As the only program of its kind in the state, we are proud to support education, training, and research that elevate the practice of cardiothoracic anesthesiology.

The Division of Cardiac Surgery is improving the health of the entire state of West Virginia and surrounding areas by being a leader in providing compassionate, high-quality surgical care delivered under the auspices of high ethical principles. We are dedicated to excellent patient care and a superior patient experience. Our division embraces educating the doctors and healthcare professionals in the latest in minimally invasive techniques.

The Division of Vascular Surgery is dedicated to serving the needs of patients with peripheral vascular disease in West Virginia and the surrounding region. A wide variety of traditional open surgical procedures are offered for the treatment of carotid, aneurysmal, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, and dialysis access construction.

The Division of Thoracic Surgery is improving the health of the entire state of West Virginia and surrounding areas by being a leader in providing compassionate, high quality, basic and complex surgical care delivered under the auspices of high ethical principles.
