Opportunities at the WVU School of Medicine
Faculty in the WVU School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences train medical students, residents, and fellows.
Medical Students
Medical students can explore the rewarding career of ophthalmology that offers both medical and surgical opportunities to treat patients of all ages. They can gain exposure via clinical rotations and case-based sessions under the guidance of faculty mentors who help build skills.
Ophthalmology Residency Program
The WVU Ophthalmology Residency Program offers a joint transitional year internship and a three-year residency program with training primarily based at the WVU Eye Institute in Morgantown, West Virginia. Residents have the opportunity to treat many patients with unusual and complex disorders.
In addition, residents provide the medical and surgical care of patients at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia, under the supervision of faculty in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.
