Alison Wilson, MD
Alison Wilson, MD, FACS, serves as the executive chair of the WVU Critical Care and Trauma Institute. She’s also a professor in the WVU School of Medicine, holding these positions: chief, Division of Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Critical Care; vice chair, Department of Surgery; and Skewes’ Family Chair in Trauma.
Dr. Wilson joined WVU in 2002 after completing medical school, a surgical residency, and a critical care fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine.
A leader in state and national trauma care for more than 20 years, she has served on the boards of major professional societies and currently sits on the American College of Surgeons Central Committee on Trauma, helping set national quality standards. She has published nearly 100 peer-reviewed works and received multiple clinical and teaching awards.
Dr. Wilson has led initiatives to standardize critical care across the WVU Health System, developed a virtual ICU program for rural hospitals, and helped launch the Section of Military and Austere Medicine and Surgery in the WVU Critical Care and Trauma Institute.
Outside of medicine, she enjoys the outdoors, farming, and supporting her two sons in their ice hockey pursuits.
