WVU Heart and Vascular Institute at WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals now offering Cardiac Electrophysiology services in South Charleston

Patients in the Charleston area and southern West Virginia now have expanded and more convenient access to cardiac electrophysiology services. WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals, in partnership with the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute, welcomed Abdul Wase, M.D., to its Thomas Memorial Hospital campus.

Cardiac electrophysiologists specialize in diseases affecting the electrical system of the heart that cause it to beat too fast or too slow. In addition to causing symptoms, such diseases may become life threatening. WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals and the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute offer medical treatment, minimally invasive catheter-based ablation, access to minimally invasive and robotic surgical ablation, and implantation of various devices (pacemaker, defibrillator, etc.) to treat these conditions.

“We are working to provide the best possible heart, lung, and vascular care for our patients, and the addition of the talented Dr. Wase means those needing cardiac electrophysiology services can get the care they need right here in southern West Virginia,” Greg Rosencrance, M.D., president and CEO of WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals, said.

“The addition of Dr. Wase to our outstanding WVU Heart and Vascular Institute cardiology and surgical teams at WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals is just another example of our full commitment to bringing local access to the highest quality of care available in West Virginia for patients of Charleston and the surrounding region,” Vinay Badhwar, M.D., executive chair of the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute, said.

Since becoming a member of WVU Medicine, Thomas Hospitals has experienced unprecedented growth and continues to serve a record number of patients and welcome a record number of new team members.

In addition to Wase, the WVU Heart and Vascular team at WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals includes an experienced team of cardiologists, renowned cardiothoracic surgeons, and an experienced team of vascular surgeons and specialists.

Wase is now accepting patients at his clinic located at 401 Division Street, Suite 204 in South Charleston. To schedule an appointment, call 304-414-4841.
