WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital is proud of the care they provide to those living with Lymphedema. Lymphedema is swelling in the body just below the skin, and is most common in the arms and legs. More than 5 million Americans live with lymphedema everyday, with many more cases going undiagnosed. Common symptoms can include an unusual feeling of heaviness, aching, tightness in the arms and/or legs, or clothing and jewelry feeling tighter.
At WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital our clinicians provide hands-on treatment at every session, using specialized manual techniques, individualized exercise programs, and functional activities to help restore patients’ maximum ability so they can resume a normal and productive lifestyle. Our nationally-certified therapists are experts in therapy techniques such as Manual Lymphatic Drainage, the application of specialized bandages and compression garments. They also provide education on exercise, healthy diet and skin care. Additionally, we are happy to provide assistance with insurance authorization and will answer any questions about referrals or insurance coverage.
