Princeton Community Hospital was the first hospital in the state of West Virginia, and one of only 22 hospitals nationwide, to obtain Hip and Knee Replacement Center of Excellence Certification from DNV-GL, an international accredited registrar and classification society headquartered in Hovik, Norway.

The West Virginia Hospital Association honored PCH with the Gold Honors 2018 Achievement Award in recognition of the hospital’s outstanding work in the areas of antibiotic stewardship, breastfeeding initiatives, Emergency Department Information Exchange (EDIE), Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN), influenza vaccination, opioid stewardship, and tobacco cessation assistance.

In 2018, PCH became the first hospital in West Virginia to offer the latest in prostate imaging for patients with suspected recurrence of prostate cancer.

In April 2019, PCH partnered with TriForLife Birth Tissue Recovery Group to offer birth tissue (placenta) donation as an option for new mothers in the Women’s Center. Since inception of the program, over 2,000 skin grafts have been performed using birth tissue donated by PCH Women’s Center patients.
