Our volunteers represent diverse backgrounds and age groups, all sharing the commitment to enrich their lives by giving back to our community.
Each volunteer serves in an area that matches his or her talents, interests, and experience. The volunteer branches of the hospital include the Foundation and Board of Governors, the Loar Auxiliary, and Volunteers In Various Areas.

Foundation
The Garrett Regional Medical Center Foundation, the fundraising arm of the hospital, is comprised of a governing board and offers volunteer opportunities for special events throughout the year. It also hosts the biennial hospital gala.

Volunteers In Various Areas (VIVA)
VIVA stands for Volunteers in Various Areas and represents the largest volunteer branch at Garrett Regional Medical Center. The VIVA volunteers help our patients and visitors ranging from greeting, escorting, comforting, and acting as liaisons between physicians and patient’s families during surgery. They also provide staff support for a variety of projects and daily office duties. Additionally, the VIVA volunteer branch offers immense friendship and fellowship opportunities for our volunteers.
Loar Auxiliary
The Loar Auxiliary supports the gift shop and the gift shop volunteers are dedicated to assisting customers, keeping merchandise fresh and well-stocked, and always maintaining a clean, cheery showroom. Prospective volunteers for the Loar Gift Shop may call 301-533-4045.
