The World Health Organization’s definition of nursing states “Nursing encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. It includes the promotion of health, the prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disabled and dying people. Nurses play a critical role in health care and are often the unsung heroes in health care facilities and emergency response. They are often the first to detect health emergencies and work on the front lines of disease prevention and the delivery of primary health care, including promotion, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.”

I have asked Carol Grove, our Chief Nursing Officer, and other nurse leaders to share why they became a nurse.

I appreciate the willingness to share these personal insights and motivations.

Now I challenge the medical staff to learn more about the nurses you work with every day. Help support our nursing staff through our words and our actions. Help us achieve a culture that promotes a family atmosphere for our staff and our patients.

Thank you to all of our nurses that show up every day as their best self and take excellent care of our patients.

Nurses, thank you for all you do.

We celebrate you!
