was the first baby born in the WVU Medicine
Children's Birthing Center at Uniontown Hospital.

“What an exciting day for the Uhrin family, our hospital, and the community,” Carrie E. Willetts, president and CEO of WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital, said. “Reopening the labor and delivery unit is the culmination of a lot of hard work and determination of so many and would not have been possible without the support of the Health System, WVU Medicine Children’s, state and local government officials, and our generous community partners.”

The unit officially opened to patients on Monday, Jan. 6 and it was not long before Lawrence Glad, M.D., medical director, WVU Medicine Children’s Birthing Center, received notice that a patient would soon deliver.

“It is my sincerest honor to welcome new life in Fayette County again,” Glad said. “All deliveries are special, but it is not lost on us how momentous this birth is and the hope it restores for a hospital and community that longed to see this unit thriving once more.”

Having traveled approximately two hours to deliver Kamora’s older brother, the Uhrin’s are grateful to be so close to home and glad other families will be able to receive the same world-class care.
