Patients have the right to choose who may visit to provide them emotional support during their stay. The following guidelines will help ensure patient, visitor, and staff safety:
- To minimize the disruption to patient care, a limit of two (2) visitors at bedside is recommended. Approval from the charge nurse may be obtained for additional visitors, depending on the patient’s condition.
- Visitors arriving from 6 am – 8 pm may use the front and outpatient entrances.
- Admittance before 6 am and after 8 pm is through the Emergency Department entrance only. Visitors must show a valid photo ID and obtain a visitor’s pass.
- Patients may have one (1) overnight support person with the approval from the charge nurse. Overnight visitors must be at least 18 years of age and remain in the patient room. An overnight visitor pass may be obtained by presenting a valid photo ID to the Uniontown Hospital Police Department.
- Visitation may be restricted under special circumstances, such as an epidemic or pandemic situation, and the hospital reserves the right to determine any other situation where it is necessary to limit visitation to ensure the safety of the patient.
- At any time, the healthcare provider may request visitors to leave the room due to the care needs of the patient, inappropriate or disruptive behavior, or violation of hospital policy.
- Visitors who are deemed disruptive by nursing or police staff, or interrupt in the patient’s care, will be asked to leave campus.
- WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital reserves the right to search all packages brought onto hospital property when reasonable suspicion exists for patient and staff safety.
- Alcoholic beverages and/or illicit drugs are prohibited on hospital property, and the visitor will be asked to leave if found in their possession.
