Supporting the Hospital

WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital appreciates all charitable gifts and contributions from grateful patients and families, employees, foundations, and local businesses, and utilizes them to help maintain an optimal level of care for those who need our care the most.

We are the healthcare leader in Fayette County and surrounding areas, providing emergency and critical care for area residents for more than a century.

Each and every gift donated to the hospital, regardless of size, is vital to our continued efforts to make a difference in our community – every patient, every time. With these gifts, we are able to continue to offer dozens of specialty services and make technological advancements when and where we can to provide the best care to our family, friends, and neighbors.

In the ever-changing healthcare climate, your gifts are more important now than ever before as public funding continues to become more and more unstable.

We thank you for your charitable consideration and look forward to continuing to serve Fayette County residents.

Labor and Delivery Unit Project

Fayette County residents welcome about 1,250 babies each year, yet they are forced to travel elsewhere for delivery since the hospital’s birthing unit closed in 2018. Friends, that is all changing!

A $5 million capital investment is happening and will enable Uniontown Hospital to revive its former Labor and Delivery Unit to better serve the surrounding areas. While the basic structure for the unit already exists, the hospital must upgrade the facilities and equipment to meet the latest requirements for obstetrical healthcare services. This community fundraising effort will provide $3 million for infrastructure and renovation, plus $2 million for furniture, fixtures, and equipment.

This project will not only expand healthcare services for a rural area in need but it will also create jobs to help strengthen the local economy. WVU Medicine expects to hire at least 40 new employees to staff the Labor and Delivery Unit at Uniontown Hospital, including obstetricians, obstetrical physician assistants, pediatricians, nurses, and ancillary staff to support unit operations.

Your support of the Labor and Delivery campaign will directly impact future generations on lives on day one of operation. Please consider supporting this exciting and important undertaking for Uniontown and Fayette County, but most importantly for the mothers and their children who will be born here.
