Pediatric Inpatient Unit

The inpatient pediatric unit at Thomas Memorial Hospital is an extension of WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital, home to the state’s largest and most experienced group of pediatric specialists. As part of J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, the WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital is the only organization in West Virginia named a Magnet® hospital for nursing excellence, the highest honor available for nursing care.

The pediatric unit serves patients 18 and under and provides 24-hour comprehensive pediatric care from board-certified pediatric physicians and nurses with extensive pediatric-specific credentials. The unit includes all-private rooms each with sleeping accommodations that allow a parent or guardian to stay overnight with their child.

Pediatric Care

WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals pediatricians and nurses are specially trained to care for children from infancy to young adulthood. We’re here for all the typical problems that accompany a child’s growth and development, providing routine care for all common pediatric illnesses.

While our primary emphasis is on preventive care, we are also well-equipped to handle complex pediatric conditions. We collaborate with patients’ primary care providers and multiple specialists from WVU Medicine Children’s to make sure your child receives the best possible care.
