Is Thomas Hospitals Internal Medicine accepting new patients?
Yes. We are currently taking new patients. We are credentialed with a wide range of carriers.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Call 304-720-2345 and tell the receptionist you want to schedule an appointment. This will ensure that the provider is allotted time to meet with you and discuss your medical concerns.
Always call and schedule an appointment as early as possible to ensure you can get a time and day that is convenient for you. The best time to schedule a follow up appointment and your annual wellness/yearly exam is when you check out after a visit. This will give you the most scheduling options.
Will I always see the same provider?
Thomas Hospitals Internal Medicine has multiple physicians and advanced practice providers. We practice as a team.
When you schedule your first appointment, you will be assigned with “preferred” provider. This will be the provider who has the overall responsibility for directing your healthcare. When you call for an acute or emergent appointment, every effort will be made to schedule your appointment with your preferred provider; however, we may ask you to see one of your provider’s associates who has an appointment opening. You will continue to see that provider until the acute episode has been treated and resolved.
What if I get sick after the office is closed on the weekend or on a holiday?
Thomas Hospitals Internal Medicine provides its patients with access to a provider after hours, on weekends and holidays. You can reach a provider by calling 304-720-2345. You will then provide your name, contact telephone number, date of birth and a summary of why you are calling. The provider will contact you to assist. Please note that maintenance and narcotic prescription requests will not be provided outside of normal office hours.
What should I do if I have an emergency?
If you feel your health situation is life threatening, you should contact 911 and/or go directly to the nearest emergency room. Please call 304-720-2345 for all other healthcare issues before going to the emergency department or urgent care facility.
How do I get my medications refilled?
The best time to request a prescription is during your office visit. For this reason, we ask that you always bring all your medication bottles, vitamins, etc., including those prescribed by other providers and facilities, to every follow-up and annual visit.
This helps keep track of what medications you are on and when each one will need to be refilled. Please note that antibiotics and controlled substance medications will not be prescribed after hours or over the telephone. To receive these medications, you must be seen by a provider.
What should I bring to my first visit?
It is important that you come prepared for your first visit. This will give both you and your provider the opportunity to make the most of your visit. Such preparation will ensure that you receive the best care possible and associated issues such as insurance billing and payment are handled efficiently and correctly.
Please being the following information with you:
- A list of questions to help you remember health concerns that you would like to discuss with your provider.
- Your health insurance card and any form(s) your insurance requires be completed during the visit.
- Any pertinent medical information, records, and test results given to you by any non-Thomas Hospitals provider or facility.
- All your medication bottles including those prescribed by someone other than a Thomas Hospitals provider. This includes prescription medications, vitamins and supplements.
- A list of any known allergies.
- Financial resources (cash, check, credit card or debit card) to cover any co-payment designated by your insurance.
