WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital recognizes National Wear Red Day

BUCKHANNON, W.VA. – WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital observed National Wear Red Day on Friday, Feb. 3, to help raise awareness for heart disease, the leading cause of death among American women.

West Virginia has the highest rate of heart disease in the nation with one in every four deaths being the result of the disease.

Risk factors for heart disease include smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, being overweight, physical inactivity, and diabetes. Maintaining a healthy, active, and tobacco-free lifestyle can reduce risks.
