MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The chiropractors at the WVU Medicine Center for Integrative Pain Management know that neck pain can greatly impact a person’s life. This is why they work with patients to find and treat the cause of their neck pain through chiropractic care.
WVU Medicine has offered chiropractic care since 2017, when the WVU Medicine Pain Clinic became the WVU Medicine Center for Integrative Pain Management. This addition gives patients a medication-free option for pain relief.
“Chiropractic care utilizes manual therapy, exercise therapy, various modalities, and patient education to address mechanical issues related to neck pain,” Nick Marchesani, D.C., WVU Medicine Center for Integrative Pain Management chiropractor, said. “We work with our patients to determine what is causing their neck pain and what we can do to help provide them relief.”
Neck pain can be caused by vehicle accidents, work injuries, and athletic injuries, but Dr. Marchesani says the most common cause is likely posture related stress.
“Things like sitting at a computer or frequent use of a smartphone can put stress on the neck, causing persistent pain,” Marchesani said. “People are working from home more now, and it is important to take your posture into account in your workspace. Making sure you don’t have to slouch to see your monitor or type, using a variable position desk, and taking frequent breaks to move around and stretch can go a long way in preventing neck pain.”
Chiropractic care is covered by many insurance providers, and patients do not need a referral to schedule a chiropractic appointment at the WVU Medicine Center for Integrative Pain Management. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 304-598-6216.
