J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, outpatient clinics receive American College of Radiology accreditation

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital and its outpatient clinic at University Town Centre have received accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The Ultrasound Imaging Department at Ruby Memorial achieved ACR accreditation for inpatient ultrasound, completing the hospital’s initiative for both inpatient and outpatient ultrasound services. In addition to Ruby, ultrasound at the Cheat Lake, Fairmont, and University Town Centre outpatient clinics are ACR accredited until 2021.

In addition, the University Town Centre outpatient clinic has achieved computerized tomography (CT) accreditation for adults, pediatrics, and lung cancer screening. This accreditation completes the accreditation initiative for all diagnostic CT scanners at Ruby and its outpatient clinics in Morgantown and Fairmont.

“Achieving this accreditation is a vigorous process to achieve but assures our patients are provided the highest level of image quality and safety by documenting that our facility meets requirements for equipment, technical personnel, and quality assurance,” Crystal Rosenberger, RT(R)(M)(CT), Radiology manager, said. “It confirms that we provide the highest level of care to each of our patients.”

ACR accreditation is recognized as the gold standard in medical imaging. Since 1987, the ACR has accredited more than 38,000 facilities in 10 imaging modalities.
