Fairmont Medical Center is home to a full-service emergency department, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, staffed by board-certified physicians and equipped with lab and imaging services. We provide acute care for adult and pediatric patients with any cardiac, respiratory, trauma, or general medicine issues.

You will receive a medical evaluation performed by one of our emergency medicine providers, and any necessary lab or imaging tests will be performed on-site. Respiratory therapy breathing assessments and treatments are provided for patients with chronic breathing problems and lung issues. In the event that a patient must be transferred to another facility, emergency ground and air transport is provided.

In the case of a medical emergency, please call 911. If you’re not sure whether you should visit us in the Emergency Room or at the Fairmont Gateway Clinic for urgent care, use these quick guidelines to help you decide where to seek care:

Emergency Room

  • Allergic reactions to food or insect bites
  • Broken bone
  • Burns
  • Chest pain
  • Consistent vomiting
  • Deep wounds
  • Head injuries
  • Sepsis
  • Severe and/or prolonged shortness of breath
  • Severe bleeding
  • Stroke

Primary Care or Urgent Care

  • Cold and flu symptoms
  • Ear infections
  • Minor cuts
  • Sinus infections
  • Sore throat
  • Strains or sprains
