New Orthopedic Surgeon Combines Medical Excellence with Community Care at WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital

Uniontown, PA — WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital is excited to announce the addition of Orthopedic Surgeon Jason Kinney, MD, to its orthopedic program. Kinney specializes in adult reconstructive services.

“Dr. Kinney’s impressive combination of medical expertise, research achievements, and commitment to community service is exactly what we’re looking for at WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital,” said Carrie Willetts, President and CEO of WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital. “We’re honored to have him join our team and look forward to working with him to help make a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients and community.”

Kinney completed his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University/University of Georgia (AU/UGA) Medical Partnership in 2017 before pursuing his orthopedic surgery residency at West Virginia University. He then completed his Adult Hip and Knee Replacement Fellowship at Johns Hopkins, which further honed his expertise in the field.

In addition to his studies, Kinney has actively participated in various research projects throughout his career. Notably, he has worked on studies investigating the impact of COVID-19 infection on postoperative outcomes in elective primary total hip arthroplasty, as well as patient outcomes and satisfaction with newer total knee implant designs. His dedication to research is evident from his numerous publications and presentations in medical journals and conferences.

Outside of his medical pursuits, Kinney is deeply committed to volunteering and community service. He has worked with Operation Walk, a surgical team that provides total joint replacements in underserved areas globally, and was actively involved in student-run free clinics while in medical school, providing healthcare to uninsured and underprivileged populations. Additionally, he has contributed to the medical education of military Special Forces medics and participated in educational programs with local elementary schools to help children become more comfortable going to the doctor.

Kinney’s focus on adult reconstructive and total joint replacement services is a welcome addition to the hospital as it continues to expand its services and provide additional care to the Fayette County community.
