PCH Employees Fuel Career Beginnings Through Scrub Drive
Princeton, W.Va, - The WISE Women Center (WISE) in Bluefield is lighting the way for women embarking on their first jobs in healthcare with a donation of more than 200 pounds of hospital scrub attire. These scrubs were gathered during a Scrub Drive organized by the WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital (PCH) nursing administration.
When collecting the donation from PCH, Connie Saunders from WISE shared that there was no one more giving than a nurse.
“When you work in healthcare, you see the needs of individuals and the community up close,” said PCH CEO Karen Bowling. “As a result, healthcare workers tend to be very active in giving back and supporting the community.
“In a very short amount of time, we collected a dozen bags of new and gently used scrubs. We want to make sure that women in our area who want to enter healthcare careers never experience a lack of appropriate attire as a barrier to their success,” Bowling added.
This donation significantly boosts WISE’s mission to “empower women to reach economic independence through a network of professional attire and tools that enable them to achieve their life and career goals.”
WISE operates a clothing closet that provides professional attire to those entering the workforce. Within this closet is a special section dedicated to healthcare attire, ensuring that women who are starting their careers in this essential field have access to the clothing they need to succeed.
