For the past 13 years, Dr. Zaslau served as division chief and became the founding chair of the department in 2017. Under his leadership, the Department achieved significant milestones, including national recognition as a high-performing specialty by U.S. News & World Report.

Before becoming a department, the Division of Urology was housed under the Department of Surgery.

WVU Medicine provides treatment across the entire spectrum of urologic diseases for adult and pediatric patients. Established in 1973, the Urology department provides surgical expertise and excellence in patient care so that no patient should have to leave the state of West Virginia to receive the highest quality urologic care.

The urologists at WVU Medicine embrace a team approach, collaborating with experts across all specialties to provide the best outcome for each patient. They work with local physicians to allow patients to transition their care closer to home and utilize telemedicine visits, when appropriate, to reduce the need for patients to travel.
