Berkeley Medical Center cuts ribbon on new bariatric surgery clinic
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – Leaders from WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center cut the ribbon on a new bariatric surgery clinic in Martinsburg, further advancing weight-loss solutions for individuals in the Eastern Panhandle and surrounding areas.
WVU Medicine Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, operated by Berkeley Medical Center, launched as a new service line in December to meet the growing demand for comprehensive obesity care. Led by Anthony Mark, M.D., medical director of bariatric surgery, and Elizabeth Zubowicz, M.D., a foregut and bariatric surgeon, the program offers life-changing procedures such as laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, and endoscopic weight-loss solutions.
“This ribbon cutting represents more than just the opening of a new office, it signifies our commitment to transforming lives,” Dr. Mark said. “Obesity is a serious health challenge, and we’re here to provide the tools and support patients need to regain their health and improve their lives.”
The program’s emphasis on minimally invasive, robotic-assisted techniques allows patients to experience faster recovery times and better outcomes. By addressing serious obesity-related conditions such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and sleep apnea, the program is uniquely tailored to each patients’ need and designed to create lasting results.
“Our new office at the Dorothy McCormack Center provides convenient access to essential resources for patients on their weight-loss journey,” Dr. Zubowicz said. “We’re excited to bring this vital service line to Martinsburg, helping individuals achieve their health goals and improve their quality of life.”
