If you’re experiencing new digestive symptoms or a chronic digestive condition, your primary care provider may recommend that you see a WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center Gastroenterology specialist. Dr. Amandeep Purewal and Dr. Venkata Tammana provide diagnosis and treatment for patients with a variety of digestive diseases affecting the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, liver, and pancreas.
To aid in diagnosing and treating those issues, WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center recently opened its new, state-of-the-art GI Center. The improvement comes as part of the hospital’s $10 million expansion project. The new, 6,000 square-feet space is located near the Atrium and next to the hospital’s operating room. The new center offers a much larger area for patients, physicians and families. It also enhances the patient’s experience by bringing pre-operative consultations, procedure, and recovery together in one space.
