What is a Chronic Wound?
Any wound that fails to close in six weeks is considered a chronic wound.
Common types of chronic wounds include:
- Pressure Ulcers
- Venous Ulcers
- Arterial Ulcers
- Diabetic Ulcers
Wound Care Services staff will develop a treatment plan based on each patient’s individual needs.
Patient care will focus on a whole body approach to wound healing including:
- Nutritional assessment and counseling
- Diabetic Education
- Patient and caregiver wound care education
- Special needs for pressure relief including beds, seat cushions and footwear
