WVU Children’s Hospital patient to appear on Frosted Flakes box

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – An 11-year-old West Virginia University Children’s Hospital patient is being honored for her courageous battle against brain cancer. Danielle Bartlett from Richwood will be featured along with the Children’s Miracle Network on a specially-designed box of Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes cereal.

Beginning today, Food Lion, Bloom and Bottom Dollar Food stores will carry the exclusive cereal box. Kellogg will donate $1 (up to $100,000) for every four boxes sold to Children’s Miracle Network, a charity that raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals, including WVU Children’s Hospital, where Danielle was treated.

A product unveiling will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Food Lion store on Industrial Drive in Summersville with Tony the Tiger, Danielle and WVU Children’s Hospital representatives in attendance.

Danielle is one of four Children’s Miracle Network hospital patients highlighted on the Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes box. They are just four of the 17 million kids treated at Children’s Miracle Network’s 170 children’s hospitals.

“The children featured on the cereal package are representative of the wide variety of ages and ailments seen every day at Children’s Miracle Network hospitals across North America,” Shirley Rogers, senior vice president for corporate fundraising at Children’s Miracle Network, said. “This fundraising campaign demonstrates both Food Lion’s and Kellogg Company’s commitment to children’s health, and we are proud to partner with them in our efforts to save and improve the lives of the 17 million children treated annually at our hospitals.”
