New Bene-FIT Program starts January 16

Start the year off right with Bene-FIT! Bene-FIT is an effective and safe exercise program for individuals looking to becoming active in 2018, but don’t know where to start. Join the Wellness Center this January to learn about the benefits of exercise and how to take control of your physical fitness.

Intro to Strength Training (January 16) 4:15-5:15pm; John Jones Conference Room C

Topics include:

  • The Importance/health benefits of strength training
  • Stretching demonstrations (Dynamic vs. Static)
  • Resistance band exercises (including demonstrations)
  • Bodyweight exercises that can be done anywhere (including demonstrations)

Intro to Cardio Exercise (January 18) 12:00-1:00pm; 7th Floor Health Sciences South Classroom 7605

Topics include:

  • The importance/health benefits of cardio exercise
  • Resting heart rate & target heart rate and how to calculate them
  • Stretching demonstrations (Dynamic vs. Static)
  • Engage in a brief cardio exercise activity
  • Tour Wellness Center

  • Develop an exercise plan with goal setting (both cardio & strength training)
  • Motivators and barriers to exercise
  • Tips and keys to success when it comes to exercise

Developing an Exercise Prescription (February 1) 12:00-1:00pm; John Jones Conference Room A

Topics include:

  • Develop an exercise plan with goal setting (both cardio & strength training)
  • Motivators and barriers to exercise
  • Tips and keys to success when it comes to exercise

The cost is only 3 Wellness Points per class for employees; $3.00 per class for spouses.
