Proceeds will benefit children with cystic fibrosis and pulmonary problems
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Runners and walkers will be lined up by 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 for the 20th annual September Stride. The 5K run and walk is organized by WVU Healthcare’s Rehabilitation Services Department.The race fee is $20 for the general public and $18 for employees of WVU Healthcare and WVU Health Sciences if postmarked by Friday, Sept. 7. After this date and on race day, the cost is $25 for all participants. The first 200 registrants will receive a T-shirt.
The race will begin and end in front of Ruby Memorial Hospital. The course loops around the hospital parking lots and continues along Van Voorhis and Chestnut Ridge roads.
There will be three races for children beginning at 10 a.m. The races will include two short-distance races for younger children and a 1K for older kids. Children can also participate in arts and crafts during the adult race.
September Stride benefits the Richard Rosenbaum Memorial Fund, which provides medication and equipment to children with cystic fibrosis and other pulmonary problems. The fund is named after Richard “Rick” Rosenbaum, who was treated for cystic fibrosis at WVU from the time he was born until he died at age 36. His family is responsible for creating the fund, as well as the Rosenbaum Family House, which provides a place for adult patients and their families to stay while receiving medical treatment at WVU Healthcare.
