WVU Medicine Camden Clark Announces Pain Management Specialist Dr. Galal Gargodhi will lead new clinical practice.

Parkersburg W.Va - WVU Medicine Camden Clark today announced that Dr. Galal Gargodhi, MD has joined the Camden Clark Physician Corporation and will lead a specialized clinic focusing on interventional pain management; an expertise of Dr. Gargodhi’s, that treats chronic pain through nerve blocks, minimally invasive spine injections, spinal cord stimulation, trigger point muscle injections and referral to other specialists if needed, like neurosurgery, psychiatry for bio-feedback and behavioral therapy. Most of the care now being offered at CCMC for pain management is done through outpatient procedures allowing patients to go home shortly after the procedure is done.

“Treating patients with these minimally invasive measures rather than prescribing pain medications will lead to an overall improvement of quality of life and level of functioning for our patients”, said Dr. Gargodhi. “I am thrilled to join the WVU Medicine Camden Clark team and to become part of the Parkersburg area community. I look forward to working with patients and referring providers in the Mid-Ohio Valley and I’m dedicated to offering the highest quality of care through treatment plans tailored to each patient that restores them to the activities of their daily lives.”

Dr. Gargodhi emphasizes listening to and having patience for his patients. He takes pride in accurate and thorough physical examinations as a key to diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain syndromes. Using minimally invasive techniques when amenable, Dr. Gargodhi treats a wide spectrum of pain syndromes such as chronic neck pain, lower back pain, sciatica, herniated discs (neck or lower back), diabetic or other peripheral neuropathies, cancer pain, headache, complex regional pain syndromes (including RSD), arthritis, osteoporosis and any type of joint pain.

He understands that pain management requires an interdisciplinary approach and is eager to work with his patients’ referring doctors, neurologists and physical therapists to effectively ease the suffering, improve the quality of life of those living with pain and quickly restore them back to health. Through a unique combination of his strive for excellence, coupled with compassion and gentle bedside manner, Dr. Gargodhi can help eliminate or manage pain.

“Our community members in pain deserve local, close to home access to the latest evidence based treatments to address their medical issues,” said Sean Smith, VP of physician enterprises and clinical integration. “That’s why I am very excited to welcome Dr.Gargodhi to WVU Medicine Camden Clark. He will be a true asset to our community and the patients he treats who will no longer need to travel out of the area for this innovative kind of pain relief treatment.”

Dr. Gargodhi completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA and completed another residency in Anesthesiology at Tufts University, Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Boston, MA. It was at Tufts University that he completed his fellowship training in Interventional Pain Medicine.
