WVU Medicine Camden Clark announces $10,500 in scholarship opportunities for students in healthcare

Parkersburg W.Va. - WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center is offering scholarship opportunities for college students in a healthcare field through the Camden Clark Auxiliary and the Camden Clark Foundation.

The Camden Clark Foundation (on behalf of the Camden Clark Nursing Alumnae) will award two $1,500 scholarships, in memory of Miss Ella Bloomheart, former Director of Nursing, and Barbara Fonte, a grateful patient, to nursing students who have completed their first year at an accredited school of nursing.

Those applying for the scholarship must meet the following criteria:

• Provide written documentation of acceptance to a Registered Nurse program accredited by the National League of Nursing (NLN).

• Live in the area served by WVU Medicine Camden Clark, which includes 11 counties in West Virginia and Ohio.

• Be currently enrolled and have completed one year as a nursing student.

Scholarship monies must be used within the next academic year.  Application deadline is April 23, 2021. The recipients will be notified, and scholarships will be awarded in May 2021. The Auxiliary plans to award three $2,500 Leo D. Carsner (Memorial) scholarships, based on qualified applicant criteria to area students obtaining a degree in the healthcare field. Leo D. Carsner was the CEO and president of Camden Clark Memorial Hospital from 1963-1989.

Those applying for the scholarship must meet the following criteria:

• Live in the area served by WVU Medicine Camden Clark, which includes 11 counties in West Virginia and Ohio.

• Have completed one year of college at an accredited school or be in the final weeks of their first year carrying at least 12 credit hours.

Applicants will be judged on their scholastic ability, leadership attributes, potential contribution to the health care field, and financial need. Application deadline is April 23, 2021. Scholarship funds are paid directly to the school.  Funding for the scholarship was made available by a variety of Auxiliary projects.
