“Quality review and improvement is essential as we seek to provide excellent care to vascular patients within our region,” Pamela Zimmerman, M.D., chief of Vascular Surgery at the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute, said. “It is exciting and an honor for the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute to host this year’s Regional Vascular Quality meeting.”

The VQI collects preoperative and one-year follow-up data to generate real-time benchmarked reports of performance measures, major outcomes, and complications for assessing the quality of care and determining best practices in vascular surgery.

The biannual regional meeting allows physicians, nurses, data managers, quality officers, and more from West Virginia and Virginia to meet in a supportive, collaborative environment to objectively review their procedure data with an end goal of delivering the best vascular care to the patients.

The VVSG regional meeting is hosted for all 44 participating hospitals from West Virginia and Virginia. Samantha Minc, M.D., vascular surgeon at the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute, serves as the medical director of the VVSG, and Rachelle Sapp, B.S.N., R.N., coordinator of national quality programs for the WVU Medicine Center for Quality Outcomes, serves as co-lead data manager for VVSG.
