Virtual mindfulness holiday workshops scheduled to begin Nov. 15

It’s the most wonderful time of year, and also the most stressful.

Equip yourself this holiday season with a toolbox of mindful techniques designed to help transition more gracefully into the fall and winter months. Led by a team of expert instructors, this collection of workshops will teach participants a balanced mindfulness routine consisting of meditation, yoga, breathing, and mindful affirmations.

Participants can attend the workshop sessions individually or in sequence. All workshops will take place via Zoom from noon to 1 p.m. on the following dates:

Nov. 15: Holistic Techniques for Pain and Sickness. Explore various practices to help alter the perception of pain and sickness while fostering acceptance and greater inner peace.

Nov. 29: Toolkit for Healthcare Provider Burnout. Times are extra tough. Mindfulness and yoga are not going to magically erase stress, but they can be powerful tools to help. Participants will learn a set of short practices to effectively strengthen resilience and bounce back from burnout with special guest and WVU Medicine chaplain, Moira Reilly.

Dec. 6: Mindful Steps to Seasonal Changes. Short, quick techniques to transition gracefully into the winter months.

Dec. 13: Mindful Steps Alumni Reunion. Reconnect, refresh and renew your mindfulness practice just in time for stressors of the holiday season.

Mindfulness workshops are free to all of WVU and WVU Medicine, recordings of each workshop will be available for those unable to attend the noon sessions.

Contact wellness specialist Anthony.Danko@hsc.wvu.edu to register or receive the mindfulness recordings.
