Tobacco attestation for employees enrolled in a WVU Medicine medical plan due Oct. 31

In June, WVU Medicine suspended its 2020 Wellness Rewards Program to evaluate the path moving forward. While the Wellness Rewards Program was suspended, the organization recognizes that it is essential to educate employees and their covered spouses on the risks of tobacco use and provide resources to help eliminate tobacco use. Tobacco is a leading cause of health issues in the United States and the most preventable risk factor for individuals.

Employees who are enrolled in a WVU Medicine medical plan as of Sept. 1 will need to complete the tobacco attestation in order to avoid the tobacco surcharge in 2021.

Employees who do not complete the attestation, will pay a tobacco surcharge of $25 per pay for employee-only coverage or $50 per pay if the spouse is covered, beginning January 2021.
