St. Joseph's Hospital president Skip Gjolberg named Business Man of the Year by Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce

BUCKHANNON, WV – St. Joseph’s Hospital President Skip Gjolberg was named the 2019 Business Man of the Year by the Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce at their annual awards banquet on March 2. This award recognizes the significant contributions he has made to St. Joseph's Hospital and the community since moving to Buckhannon and the respect he has earned from his colleagues.

Gjolberg has made significant contributions to his organization and is admired as a leader in his industry, both locally and statewide, and is well-respected by his staff and colleagues. He currently serves as president of the Upshur County Development Authority, chair of the West Virginia Hospital Political Action Committee Board of Trustees, and as a member of the legislative committee for the West Virginia Hospital Association. He leads a grassroots advocacy team dedicated to furthering the mission of St. Joseph’s Hospital and rural healthcare on a state-wide level and is also a graduate of Leadership West Virginia.

During his tenure as president of St. Joseph’s Hospital, the hospital has been recognized with several awards including a Gold Honors Achievement Award, awards for quality and safety, and most recently as one of the top 100 Critical Access Care Hospitals in the country.

Originally from Williamsburg, VA, he is married with five children and is now a proud grandfather to grandson Gabriel. Prior to coming to Buckhannon, he served in hospital administrative roles in Wisconsin and Texas.
