St. Joseph's Hospital celebrates National Hospital Week May 10-16

BUCKHANNON, W.VA. – WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital is celebrating National Hospital Week May 10-16 with a variety of activities and events honoring hospital and nursing staff.  

RotaryBuckhannon Mayor David McCauley signed a proclamation declaring May 6-16 to be National Nurses’ and National Hospital Week in Buckhannon, urging residents to express their appreciation for St. Joseph’s Hospital and its staff.

DriveTreats are planned each day for staff, and contests for the best “Do It Yourself (DIY) Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)” and the best “Corona Hair and I Don’t Care” contests will be held.  

Drive 2On Tuesday, staff were treated to a “Drive-By Salute” hosted by the Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur. Donations of food throughout the week were made by Sam’s Pizza; The Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur; the United Methodist Churches of Mt. Hope, Mt. Olive, Reger, Rocky Ford, Hampton, and Tennerton; and the Christian Golfer’s Association.

“The theme of this year’s Hospital Week celebration is 'Where Health Comes First,'” Skip Gjolberg, president of St. Joseph’s Hospital, said. “Recognizing the hard work and dedication of our staff is always important, and we are very proud of them as they keep our community safe during this pandemic.”
