Potomac Valley Hospital Named Community Star

Potomac Valley Hospital is honored to be named West Virginia’s Community Star for the year 2021.

Each year, the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health celebrates National Rural Health Day. National Rural Health Day is an opportunity to “Celebrate the Power of Rural” by honoring the selfless, community-centered focus present in rural America. This celebration highlights the efforts rural healthcare providers take to address the unique challenges presented by providing healthcare in rural areas.

In conjunction with National Rural Health Day, the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health established an annual Community Star Recognition Program, honoring those who are making a difference and positively impacting their communities.

Nominees for Community Star are selected based on their contributions toward making a difference in rural communities through collaboration, education, innovation, and communication. Potomac Valley Hospital was nominated for this designation based on their efforts in demonstrating leadership to grow rural population health, by continually creating programs, providing educational opportunities, and collaborating with other community businesses and members.

“Potomac Valley Hospital has been growing exponentially for the last few years, providing new services the rural area of Mineral County,” says Mark Boucot, President and CEO of Potomac Valley Hospital. “Part of that growth is due to our newly established preventive medicine program. This program focuses on the health of individuals and communities, providing multiple opportunities to promote health and well-being within our community.” He continued, “we are so grateful to WVU Medicine for helping our community with great physicians and programs that promote health to our community.”

Potomac Valley Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital in Keyser, West Virginia. The hospital serves the community of Mineral County, West Virginia and surrounding areas.
