This month's Fitness Tip is directed at anyone who spends the majority of their workday in an office chair and/or at a computer. The more time you spend in front of a computer, the more back/neck and lower body pain and uncomforability you might experience. This pain is generally caused by a weakness in the upper back, and if it isn't addressed it can lead to a condition commonly known as "hunched back". This is characterized by drawn in shoulders and an arched upper back.
Thankfully, there are many exercises that you can do to help strenghten your upper back and eliminate poor posture. Exercises such as band or cable face pulls, band pull-aparts, dumbbell lateral raises, and a variation of different types of rows will help to combat upper back muscle fatigue and weakness.
Here at the Camden Clark Health and Wellness Center, we have a qualified staff of Exercice Specialists available to assist you with any of your fitness needs.
