Drs. Amanda and Gary Nichols to join Wetzel County Hospital

NEW MARTINSVILLE, W.Va. – Board-certified family medicine physicians Amanda Nichols, M.D., and Gary Nichols, M.D., have announced that they will be relocating their primary care practice to Wetzel County Hospital, a clinical affiliate of WVU Medicine, in New Martinsville on Jan. 1.

“We are thrilled to join Wetzel County Hospital,” Dr. Amanda Nichols said. “As an affiliate of the WVU Medicine system, we’ll have access to the best resources is the state. This move is the best thing to do for our patients.”

Both physicians specialize in primary care, seeing patients at every stage of life, including children. They also participate in shared care obstetrics, following patients during the course of their pregnancy alongside an obstetrician until time for delivery. They perform procedures typical of a primary care practice, including minor skin procedures.

Patients currently scheduled to see Amanda Nichols or Dr. Gary Nichols after Jan. 1 can call their new office at 304-455-8080 to reschedule. They are also accepting new patients. The new office will be located inside WVU Medicine Wetzel County Hospital at 3 East Benjamin Drive in New Martinsville.

Amanda Nichols was born and raised in Sistersville, while Gary Nichols was born and raised in Parkersburg. The two met at West Virginia Wesleyan College, where they each graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1997. They both attended the West Virginia University School of Medicine and completed their residencies at Washington Hospital Family Practice with rotations at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. They are both active in their church and took an eight-week medical mission trip to Kenya in 2001. Amanda Nichols also serves as the medical director for Journey Hospice.

Wetzel County Hospital in New Martinsville became a clinical affiliate of the West Virginia University Health System in 2016. Effective Oct. 1, 2018, Wetzel County Hospital entered into a management agreement with WVU Hospitals. Established in 1920, Wetzel County Hospital is a 58-bed facility that employs 235 people. It offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including cardiopulmonary, emergency, general surgery, radiology, and cardiac rehabilitation, physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
