MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Sick and injured Mountain State children will benefit from a $10,000 contribution from the CONSOL Cares Foundation to support WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital.
WVU Medicine Children’s provides the greatest range of pediatric specialty and high-risk maternal care in West Virginia and the surrounding region. A new nine-story, 150-bed hospital is under construction next to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital on WVU Medicine’s main campus in Morgantown.
“Strong partnerships are key to our success at WVU Medicine Children’s, and we are honored to receive this generous support from the CONSOL Cares Foundation,” Amy L. Bush, B.S.N., M.B.A., R.N., C.N.O.R., WVU Medicine Children’s chief operating officer, said. “The CONSOL Cares contribution will help us provide highly specialized care for our children while keeping families close to home.”

The new WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital features state-of-the-art facilities, including a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Acute Care Unit, a dedicated pediatric emergency department, pediatric operating rooms, advanced pediatric imaging, and a spa-like Birthing Center.
Advanced specialty capabilities include a pediatric cardiac catheterization lab, interventional radiology lab, endoscopy lab, Heart Center, Blood Disorders and Cancer Center, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic. The hospital also offers expanded patient and family care, such as private inpatient rooms, an on-site pharmacy, a cafeteria and gift shop, and a WVU sports-themed resource center.
CONSOL Cares’ generous contribution will be recognized with a Window of Hope in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Strategically designed to bring natural light into a patient's room for healing of both the child and their family, these windows offer the hope and dream of a future beyond their current situation.
The CONSOL Cares Foundation’s contribution supports the “Grow Children’s” capital campaign, which seeks to raise $60 million in private support for the new hospital and associated program improvements. All gifts are made through the WVU Foundation, the nonprofit organization that receives and administers private donations on behalf of the University.
