Camden Clark Honors Employees, Names 2023 Leader of the Year at Service Awards Dinner and Ceremony

WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center hosted its first Employee Service Awards Dinner and Ceremony since 2020 on Wednesday, June 28 to honor employees for their service and dedication to the Mid-Ohio Valley and surrounding communities.

Employees celebrating years of service ranging from five to 54 years were honored during the program, along with recent department recognitions and Voice of the Patient award winners.

"We wouldn't be able to meet our mission without our employees,” said WVU Medicine Camden Clark Chief Operating Officer, Sean Smith. “Our team has so much experience and we want to be able to recognize the sacrifices made by our employees to meet the healthcare needs of our communities. We are grateful for their dedication and the care provided to our patients each day.”

The celebration themed in conjunction with Camden Clark’s 125-year anniversary was held at the Grand Pointe Conference Center, beginning with welcome remarks from senior leadership and the board of directors. During the program, Zac Campbell, Director of Engineering and Facilities, was named the 2023 Leader of the Year.

Campbell began his tenure at Camden Clark as the Director of Engineering and Facilities Management less than two years ago and has since led efforts to rejuvenate the department and Camden Clark facilities. He has also facilitated the architectural and construction designs of the Camden Clark South Gate Medical Center slated to open in September, among several other projects.

One of Campbell’s nominations noted, “Although Zac is not a clinical leader, he touches all areas of Camden Clark and his work is key to all operations including inpatient, outpatient, clinics and other offsite departments.”

In addition to his professional success, Campbell prioritizes family and community. He has assisted in organizing Camden Clark food drives, is an active member of the Parkersburg Area Jaycees, works with events with the Mid-Ohio Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Children’s Home Society annual food drive. Campbell serves as a member of the YMCA of Parkersburg Board of Directors and is a Fairmont State University Recruitment Tour volunteer. He is also active at Stout Memorial United Methodist Church in Parkersburg.

Campbell was recently recognized as part of the State Journal’s WV Generation Next 40 Under 40 class of 2023 and was also named a “Young Gun” by West Virginia Executive.
