The Nurse Residency Program at WVU Medicine Camden Clark is a comprehensive program designed to assist the new RN’s transition from the classroom to professional practice. WVU Medicine Camden Clark aspires to deliver to you an immersive experience where you will see yourself grow as a professional.
We will provide you 1:1 mentorship with a transition coordinator and many networking and learning opportunities. It is our promise to equip and ensure that you are confident and ready to meet the needs of today’s healthcare industry through high quality professional nursing practice.
Our nine-month program provides a multifaceted approach through:

The first years of professional practice are crucial to overall personal and professional growth.
The Nurse Residency Program bridges the gap between academic training and working as a professional nurse. This program will ease the transition to professional practice and raise the overall satisfaction for new nurses at WVU Medicine Camden Clark. Through a multifaceted approach, residents will complete an immersive experience to prepare them to successfully meet our community’s healthcare needs.
Over a period of 9 months, Transition to Professional Practice Seminars will be conducted with fellow nurse residents. Guest speakers and content experts from WVU Medicine will provide nurse residents with organizational and practice insights. Evidence-Based Practice and Quality improvement will be integrated throughout the program in partnership with department leaders and key stakeholders.
At WVU Medicine CCMC, we pair you with a transition coordinator who will support you every step of the way. We strive to ensure that you have confidence – from the classroom to the bedside. Our mission is to provide you with the tools you need to meet the challenge of current nursing practice.

How do I apply for a position as a new graduate nurse?
New graduate nurses may apply for any open staff nurse position. Enrollment in nurse residency will occur automatically and does not require any additional or special applications.
What topics are discussed in this program?
Once a month, you will a complete a Transition to Professional Practice Seminar lead by the Transition Coordinators and content experts from across WVU Medicine Camden Clark. These seminars cover a monthly theme, and a wide range of topics, with content based on the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scopes and Standards of Practice, Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) Competencies, Institute of Medicine (IoM) Competencies, and Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) Focus Areas.
