Program Overview

Students are scheduled for clinical and didactic assignments on 4-5 days each week, including minimal weekend and evening shift assignments during the 22.5-month training period. Unlike other radiologic technology programs, students enrolled at UHCSRT also benefit from our partnerships with area healthcare providers for supervised clinical assignments at United Hospital Center, VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.

Experiences in various clinical settings enable UHCSRT students to gain knowledge using a wide variety of imaging systems under the supervision of a diverse population of registered radiologic technologists, each possessing unique skills and depth of experience.

Admission Process

Radiologic technology classes at UHCSRT begin in August of each year, but selection of students is completed in April. Applications and required transcripts must be submitted before March 1 of the year in which the student hopes to gain admission.

UHCSRT has student recruitment and admission policies that are nondiscriminatory as evidenced by the EOE statement on our application, and a process that is point-based and consistently applied for the selection of students.

Student selection is a two-part process that begins with reviewing student academic transcripts by United Hospital Center Radiologic Technology Faculty. An impartial scoring system ranks applicants based on academic transcripts and ACT or SAT test results. Recommended prerequisite courses include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy/Physiology, Computer Science, and Algebra.

Interviews are conducted in late March/early April for individuals whose scores place them in the top sixty of those completing applications. Interviews are conducted at United Hospital Center by Radiologic Technology faculty. A maximum of fifteen students are notified following interviews. Selections are complete by the end of April to begin pre-admission testing for an August start date. Some applicants are designated as alternates and are notified if an applicant selected for admission is unable to attend.

Pre-admission testing must be satisfactorily completed before entry into UHC SRT and includes:

  1. Submission of all Human Resource documents, including vaccination/immunization history
  2. Criminal Background Investigation
  3. Lab testing, including a drug screen provided at no cost and performed at UHC
