The West Virginia University School of Dentistry Student Clinic is dedicated to training future dental professionals and providing affordable, comprehensive oral healthcare to adults and children of all ages.
To ensure the highest quality care, students working toward their Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree and students working toward their Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene provide treatment under the direct supervision of licensed and experienced faculty.
As a result of the thoroughness and personal attention provided by our students, the overall time to complete treatment in the Student Clinic may be considerably longer than it would be if administered by a faculty or graduate dentist. Fees in the student clinic are typically less than those in our faculty practice and our graduate dentist/residency clinic.
Treatment from DDS students can include:
- Routine exams
- General dentistry care, including fillings and extractions
- Root canals
- Complete and partial dentures
- Pediatric dentistry
Treatment from Dental Hygiene students can include:
- Inspection for signs of cavities, gum disease, and existing and missing teeth
- Removal of tartar and plaque
- Teeth polishing and whitening
- Tobacco cessation
- Nutritional counseling
