Course Description

This conference is designed to address the wide range of clinical findings associated with the care of patients with spinal conditions, including the history and physical exam, spine imaging, treatment of spine pain and operative indications, non-surgical treatment options, and advances in medication treatment of spine pain. Lecture format and case presentations will provide the attendee with take-home strategies for the improved evaluation and treatment of patients with these conditions.

Target Audience

This conference will educate physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, physical therapists, and chiropractors on advances in treatment of spine pain.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe standard of care and multi-disciplinary treatment modalities for low
    back pain
  2. Discuss chronic pain management strategies and the use of medical
    marijuana for chronic pain
  3. Discuss causes of spine pain
  4. Discuss psychological and behavioral responses to spine pain and addiction

Course Credit

The West Virginia University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The WVU Office of CME designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This continuing education activity has been provided by the West Virginia University School of Nursing for 8.1 contact hours. The West Virginia University School of Nursing is an approved provider of continuing education by the state of West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses, Legislature Rule §19CsR11-4 under provider number WV1996-0120RN.

This continuing education activity has been provided by the West Virginia Board of Physical Therapy for 7 contact hours. The West Virginia Board of Physical Therapy is an approved provider of continuing education for registered physical therapists and physical therapy assistants.

Important: If you are unable to attend the conference after you have registered, you must notify us in writing by October 15 to receive a refund. No refunds for conference fees will be made after October 15. A $50 fee will be charged for all cancelled registrations. We reserve the right to cancel individual sessions or the entire conference. In the event of a cancellation, a full tuition refund will be made.
