How to refer patients

Our goal is to provide patients both outstanding care and a positive experience. If you are a community doctor and wish to make a referral to the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, we will work closely with you to ensure both you and your patients have a personalized experience. MARS (Medical Access Referral System)

WVU Medicine offers physician-to-physician services, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our call center transfer representatives will connect you with the appropriate WVU physician for consults, appointments, admissions, transfers, and patient information. Through Physicians Services and MARS, referring physicians are provided with timely patient information, including:

  • notification of scheduled (and rescheduled) patient admissions
  • notification of scheduled (and rescheduled) patient procedures
  • documentation, including discharge summaries
  • MARS and the Physician Services Specialist serve as a contact for additional information, such as:
  • clinic letters
  • test results
  • medication information

Physician Liaison Services

Strengthening the relationship between physicians, hospitals, and referring providers. Coordinating and improving patient care with community providers is of the utmost importance. Our dedicated physician liaison Swapna King, serves as an essential contact for community providers who need information about West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute .
