Focused ultrasound for blood brain barrier opening in Alzheimer’s disease
In collaboration with INSIGHTEC, we have successfully opened the blood brain barrier in the hippocampus of patients with mild Alzheimer’s disease. The interdisciplinary research team at the West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute became the first in the world to use focused ultrasound to treat a patient with Alzheimer’s disease.
