WVU Health System honored for digital excellence as a 2024 Digital Health Most Wired Survey recipient
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) has released its coveted Digital Health Most Wired Survey results for the 2024 data collection period. The WVU Health System is proud to announce its Level 10 achievement – the highest possible – for the Acute and Ambulatory survey selections for the third consecutive year.
Among the more than 48,000 facilities represented, the WVU Health System, which operates under the brand WVU Medicine, distinguished itself by ranking above peers in critical categories such as analytics and data management, population health, infrastructure, and patient engagement. The survey evaluates the adoption, integration, and impact of technologies across healthcare organizations, from early-stage adopters to industry leaders.
“We take great pride in our Health System’s ability to deliver seamless care across all our hospitals and facilities,” Albert L. Wright, Jr., president and CEO of the WVU Health System, said. “Any provider across our network has their patients’ health histories and test results at the tips of their fingers, ensuring their information is both accurate and current – regardless of where else in our System they have received care. Wherever our patients see a WVU Medicine provider, their records follow. Our early adoption of an advanced electronic medical records system allowed us to become leaders among our peers in smart use of technology, and we are honored to receive this recognition.”
In the face of escalating challenges like increasing cybersecurity threats, evolving care models, staffing shortages, and budget constraints, the urgency for revolutionizing healthcare through technology continues to grow. The next 30 years will bring profound changes, driven by emerging technologies. Anticipated advancements in digital health — facilitated by fully interoperable data, artificial intelligence, and secure platforms — will significantly transform the landscape of care. A strategic roadmap will be essential to navigate these changes.
“We are proud to recognize your organization’s exceptional dedication to digital health excellence. Your pioneering performance in the industry not only inspires other organizations by example, but also provides patients around the world with better care,” Russ Branzell, CHIME president and CEO, said.
“To aid your future planning, we have designed the Digital Health Most Wired program to provide insights into best practices, HIT adoption patterns, and digital health market trends.”
The Digital Health Most Wired survey and recognition program serves as a comprehensive “Digital Health Check-up” for healthcare organizations globally. As success in digital health increasingly influences patient care quality, the CHIME Digital Health Most Wired survey reflects the progress of leading healthcare providers as they reshape healthcare for the future. This achievement extends beyond information technology, symbolizing a collective organizational commitment to enhancing healthcare through advanced digital health strategies.
“We are proud to receive the Level 10 achievement for Acute and Ambulatory care for the third year in a row,” Jim Venturella, WVU Health System chief information officer, said. “Over the years, our IT teams have consistently kept our system ahead of the curve in an ever-changing technological landscape. We are proud that their work has been recognized at the national level.”
