WVU Medicine St. Joseph's Hospital recognizes National Donate Life Month with flag raising

BUCKHANNON, WV – WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital recognized National Donate Life Month with a flag raising for CORE, the Center for Organ Recovery and Education.

The CORE flag is raised at WVU Medicine St. Joseph's Hospital.

Through its commitment to donation, last year St. Joseph’s Hospital recovered four corneas, restoring sight to four grateful recipients. They also potentially restored health and mobility to more than 300 tissue recipients worldwide.

Nationally, approximately 112,000 people are waiting for an organ transplant and someone is added to the transplant list every 10 minutes.  At least 20 people will die each day without receiving the transplant they so desperately need.

Donors can place the designation on their driver’s license or state identification card when they receive or renew their license or ID.  To learn more about donation or to sign up, go to core.org/register.
