GLEN DALE, W.Va. – Three WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital employees were recognized for going above and beyond by their managers at the annual Wetzel County Chamber of Commerce Community Awards on May 14.
The nurses – Tyvette LeMasters, Courtney VanCamp, and Mike Hughes – were among the nominees in the Professional of the Year category. Each nominee was recognized and received a certificate.
Medical/Surgical Unit Nurse Manager Crystal Bragg nominated LeMasters, a licensed practical nurse on the unit, whom she described as “a caring, dedicated nurse” who resides in Jacksonburg and commutes more than three hours to work at Reynolds. LeMasters was hired after graduating from the B.M. Spurr School of Practical Nursing in 2013.
Emergency Department Nurse Manager Brittany DeCrease nominated VanCamp and Hughes, both registered nurses in the department. According to DeCrease, VanCamp is a new nurse, but her patients would never know it by her passion and quality bedside care. Hughes spends time volunteering on local EMS squads and also works as a flight nurse. Hughes was recently quadruple board certified with the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing.
All nominees must work and/or live in Wetzel or Tyler counties in West Virginia or Monroe County, Ohio. Community members or employers nominate individuals who are placed into categories by the Wetzel County Chamber. Nominees are listed on the Chamber’s website and left open to a public vote to determine the winner.
