GLEN DALE, W.Va. – The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital has been re-certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).
The program at Reynolds has been AACVPR certified since 2000. Certified AACVPR programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices possible.
“This certification is a testament to our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program’s passion for providing the absolute best care for these patients,” David Hess, M.D., president and CEO of Reynolds Memorial, said. “The program’s staff members are a vital part of our continuum of care to make sure our patients receive the best care before, during, and after a cardiac issue.”
The Joseph Neubauer Cardiac Rehabilitation Center at Reynolds opened in 1991. The three-phase program is designed to help people with cardiovascular problems (e.g. heart attack, bypass surgery, valve replacement, heart transplant, angina, or angioplasty) to recover faster and improve their quality of life. The goal of the program is to guide the heart patient toward recovery and good health through education, supervised heart-monitored exercise, and psychological support.
AACVPR Program Certification is the only peer-reviewed accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other professional societies.
