WVU Medicine East appoints Behavioral Health Director

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – WVU Medicine East Vice President Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer Samantha Richards recently announced that Sally Anne Schneider has been named director of behavioral health services for Berkeley Medical Center and Jefferson Medical Center.

Schneider brings over 25 years of behavioral health experience including inpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization and the development of embedded outpatient services to WVU Medicine East. She most recently worked as the Chief Executive Officer in two free standing psychiatric hospitals.

Schneider’s past behavioral health executive experience includes larger community and academic medical surgical hospitals in both Kansas and Alaska. She has also operated and developed psychiatric service lines for children and youth.

Schneider received a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas and she continues to hold a clinical license in that state. Her Bachelor’s degree was from Western Washington University.

In her new role with WVU Medicine East, Schneider will oversee both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health for the Eastern Panhandle including mental health, addictions, and crisis evaluation. She will focus on developing an integrated service line that benefits both internal health system and community partners.

“Sally Anne will be charged with carrying out our new vision to provide administrative, strategic, clinical and operational leadership and support to all of our behavioral health services,” Richards said. “She will work collaboratively with the medical directors and senior leadership team to develop programs to serve the behavioral health care needs of our communities.”
